Ms Jackie Knowles, Durham University, UK

Miss Jackie Knowles, Electronic Resources Librarian, Durham University, UK

Q: What led you into your chosen profession?

A: It was my first Saturday job at my local public library. I loved the sense of order and sheer amount of organisation that went into running the place. I used to do hour upon hour of shelving and shelf tidying and get a real kick out of it... sad but true! Since then I have moved more into the electronic and IT side of things, these days I hardy ever touch the books!

Q: What book are you reading right now?

A: I usually have one or two books on the go - at the moment I'm reading Lady Oracle by Margaret Atwood and the second Avoca Cookbook (Avoca is a fab cafe in Dublin).

Q: Who do you admire the most (past or present) and why?

A: Probably my parents, for obvious reasons such as giving me and my three sisters a happy and secure childhood.

Q: What was the first and last music record you bought?

A: The first one I remember purchasing was the 7 inch of Material Girl by Madonna, the latest was Scissor Sisters.

Q: If you could have any career other than your chosen profession, what would you choose?

A: I'd run a teashop by the seaside.

Q: If you could have dinner with any 3 people, past or present, who would they be?

A: Dolly Parton, Roald Dahl and Kevin McCloud from Channel 4's Grand Designs.

Q: Money no option, where would you like to go on vacation?

A: Mevagissey in Cornwall.
