Q: Why did you decide to become a physicist?
A: My time in the Air Force Communications Branch convinced me of the importance of physics and maths.
Q: What book are you reading right now?
A: "Chink" (The Biography of Major- General Dorman- Smith... an interesting character alternatively held as a military genius or a menace to all with whom he worked!!).
Q: Who do you admire the most (past or present)?
A: Excluding my wife:
(a) Lord May of Oxford (President of the Royal Society)
(b) John Selborne (House of Lords)
(c) Sir Bobby Charlton
Q: If you could have dinner with any 3 people, living or dead, who would they be?
A: Newton, Hooke and Leibnitz- what an amazing dinner party that would be!!
Q: If you could have any career other than your chosen profession, what would you choose?
A: Something Scientific, possibly as a Scientific attache to the Foreign Office.
