Katherine Szigeti, Science Librarian, Engineering and Science Libraries, Temple University, PA, USA

Q: What led you into your chosen profession?

A: I was a registered respiratory therapist which I enjoyed, but my body did not enjoy working the night shift (7pm to 7am). Looking at other professions, I found librarianship which combined gaining knowledge with education. This appealed to me so I pursued it.

Q: What book are you reading right now?

A: I have two books on the go: A Concise History of Hungary by Miklós Molnár and Men at Arms (a Discworld novel) by Terry Pratchett.

Q: Who do you admire the most (past or present) and why?

A: Marie Curie, Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, 1903. She was a trailblazer for women in science, becoming professor of general physics at the Sorbonne, the first time a woman held the position.

Q: What was the first and last music record you bought?

A: First: Madman Across the Water by Elton John. Last: Dub Side of the Moon by various artists.

Q: If you could have any career other than your chosen profession, what would you choose?

A: Toss up: auto mechanic or horticulturist.

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would they be?

A: Isaac Asimov, Ada Lovelace and P G Wodehouse. This would be a fun and interesting dinner, I think.

Q: Money no option, where would you like to go on vacation?

A: Live in Hungary for two months, traveling throughout the country, becoming fluent (or at least better) in the language.
