Q: What led you into your chosen profession?
A: Actually, I started out in an MBA program and realized midway through my first semester that it really wasn't something I wanted to do. One of my classmates suggested taking a library science class and I was totally hooked after that. I really love the research process and helping students and faculty find the resources they need to do their work.
Q: What book are you reading right now?
A: Well, I am a little embarrassed to admit that I'm probably among the last few people out there who haven't read the Da Vinci Code. So, I'm reading that now and I have Angels and Demons waiting on my nightstand to read after that. (I know, I'm reading them in reverse order.)
Q: Who do you admire the most (past or present) and why?
A: That's a tough one. I can think of a lot of people I admire, but if I had to choose just one, I guess I would say Abraham Lincoln. The more I read about him the more I admire his wisdom and common sense. I also read that he had an incredible sense of humor.
Q: What was the first and last music record you bought?
A: I don't remember the name of the first record, but I know it was by the Beatles. The last record was probably Home by the Dixie Chicks.
Q: If you could have any career other than your chosen profession, what would you choose?
A: I would love to have a career where I could get paid a lot of money to read novels, but only if I could choose the ones I wanted to read. Since that's not likely, I think I would most want to be a master gardener.
Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would they be?
A: John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney. Since I can't have four, we'd have to do without a drummer. I would love to get these guys back together again.
Q: Money no option, where would you like to go on vacation?
A: I would love to spend a whole year traveling all over Europe.
